SDC Mobile Banking

SDC, Skandinavisk Data Center, has just launched a truly mobile online bank solution for several Danish, Norwegian and Swedish banks and savings banks. And security is on a par with the banks’ netbanks.

In Denmark, Lån & Spar Bank is one of the first nation-wide banks to offer its customers the mobile banking solution. All the bank’s customers can register with Mobilbank and use their mobile phone to transfer money, pay bills, view account statements and keep tabs on transactions. In short – the same basic functions as they have on their netbank.

Mobilbank works on most mobile handsets

Ole Bruhn Kyhnæb is in charge of the development of customer portals at SDC, and has thus been responsible for Mobilbank, which customers at Lån & Spar Bank, among others, have given a good reception. SDC’s other banks and savings banks in Denmark, Norway and Sweden will also be offering a full version of the solution to their customers within the foreseeable future. A number of Mobilbank pilot projects are currently under way with a number of selected customers.

“Developing Mobilbank has been an exciting, pioneering, task. We have given security careful consideration. At the same time, it was important to us that as many of our customers as possible would be able to use Mobilbank on their mobile phones. As a result, Mobilbank will run on 2,675 different models. Unwire has spared no efforts to ensure that all mobile phones less than three years old work with the solution,” explains Mr Bruhn Kyhnæb, who was also involved in the early days of WAP, although that’s a different story entirely.

Easy as pie

SDC’s customer support has received very few complaints since the launch of the mobil bank solution. “To us, that’s an extremely positive sign that Lån & Spar Bank’s customers have had no trouble adopting the solution,” says Bruhn Kyhnæb. Initially, we have agreed with Unwire that they will offer second line support for mobile banking as required. But as far as I am aware, this service has also been superfluous. It’s wonderful to ascertain that it works!

The mobile banking solution, which is offered by SDC financial institutions in Denmark, is developed by SDC and Unwire. SDC is a full-service IT-centre for small and medium-sized banks in the Nordic countries. SDC’s clientele consists of more than 140 Danish, Norwegian and Swedish financial institutions, which are also owners of SDC.
